Rally & cureMEC Awards Grant

Rally Foundation & cureMEC Awards “Outside the Box” Grant

cureMEC, in partnership with Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, is excited to announce that we have awarded a $50,000 “Outside the Box” grant to Dr. Charles Keller and the Children’s Cancer Therapy Development Institute for their novel childhood cancer research idea that directly addresses myoepithelial carcinoma (MEC). Congratulations, cc-TDI and Dr. Keller!

“Rally sees itself as philanthropic seed investors in the next great discovery — we like to invest early and are willing to take risks because these Outside the Box ideas may pave the way to finding better treatments and cures,” says Dean Crowe, Founder and CEO of the Rally Foundation. This grant was dual peer-reviewed and only the highest scoring applications received funding.

cureMEC and Rally co-funded this grant, each contributing $25,000.

YOU made this grant possible and we couldn’t be more thankful for all your support! You can read more about the grant below.

Outside the Box Grant co-Funded by Rally Foundation and cureMEC:

Children’s Cancer Therapy Development Institute: Dr. Charles Keller for genetically-engineered mouse model of EWSR1-KLF15 myoepithelial carcinoma

Myoepithelial carcinoma (MEC) with the EWSR1-KLF15 gene fusion is incurable if unresectable or metastatic. So few research tools exist that the understanding how MEC forms or testing treatments for MEC is not possible. As a critical step to testing new drugs and immunotherapies, we propose to generate a genetically-engineered mouse model of EWSR1-KLF15 MEC and to share the mouse model worldwide immediately upon generating the mouse strain.
