Sebas Update

Last week, Sebas got his last dose of chemotherapy. Yesterday, he had a CT of his lungs and an MRI of his hand. We got the results today and good news to share! Most of the nodules in his lungs have shrunk or disappeared. Only 3 are left and they are very tiny (he originally had 11). No tumor was found on his hand at all. We are taking all of this as wonderful and positive news and wanted to share it with all of you right away.

Yesterday was an incredibly difficult day for Sebas and for all of us. He had to fast until 3pm and begged for fruit snacks for what seemed like hours. Our poor baby was so hungry but finally he fell asleep. He woke up to bright lights and 5 nurses and doctors around him. They had to access the implanted port in his chest, the anesthesia was injected and he immediately went to sleep. As a parent, it's incredibly difficult to hold your child down while they poke them and inject them with anesthesia, and watch them go to sleep in a split second.

What gave us strength to get through the day and night was knowing that so many people were holding us so tight, and sending so much love and healing energy our way. The light and fire from the candles that all of you lit for Sebas connected with ours and it has burned bright and hot, just like Sebastian's heart.

Tomorrow, Sebas has surgery in the morning to remove his port. This will be a significant moment in his cancer journey, as it marks the end of his frontline treatment. We will come back to Stanford Children's Hospital in 3 months for more scans and will follow that same pattern for the next few years.

We are now packing and getting ready to move back home to Albuquerque on June 10th. We can't wait!
